For Gemini users

What to build on Gemini. Decide in 20 minutes.

Gemini works across chat, CLI and Antigravity, generating code and reasoning about a project from a prompt rather than from a fixed workflow. What it can't tell you is whether the thing is worth building. Nine forced decisions against live G2 and Reddit data, then a Gemini-optimised spec carrying your buyer, scope, price and launch plan straight into Gemini prompt.

What you paste into Gemini prompt

A structured prompt block you paste at the start of a session or keep in the project context, carrying the buyer, the scope boundary, the price and the launch channel. It exists so the conversation starts from decisions rather than from a description. The example below uses a freelance-accountant idea; yours will be specific to your own.

## Buyer
Sarah, 38, freelance accountant in the UK. Earns £80k/yr. Willing to pay £29/mo for tools that save admin time. Decision timeline 7 days. Channels: r/accounting, AccountingWEB.
## Problem (severity 9/10 from G2 + Reddit)
Client onboarding takes 4-6 hours per new client. Manual data entry, duplicated forms, chasing missing documents.
## V1 scope — Lean package (2-week build)
✓ Smart intake form with VAT-number prefill ✓ Document upload with auto-categorisation ✓ Welcome email sequence with checklist ✓ Single-page dashboard showing new-client pipeline ✗ Multi-user access (Balanced package only) ✗ Stripe integration (post-MVP)
## Stack
Next.js 14, Supabase auth + Postgres, Tailwind. Deploy via the host platform.
## Pricing (Van Westendorp: £19-£39, optimal £29)
Free: 1 active client · Pro: £29/mo, 10 clients · Agency: £79/mo, unlimited
## Launch (channel-matched to buyer)
Week 1: r/accounting AMA + AccountingWEB guest post. Week 2: AccountingWEB ad burst + cold email to 50 firms. Success metric: First paying customer in week 4.
## Tone of voice
Crisp, professional, no fluff. UK English. Sarah is time-poor.

The failure mode

On Gemini, nothing stops you being vague

General-purpose tools meet you at your level, and that is the difficulty. Type a vague description of a product and Gemini returns a fluent, well-organised, entirely plausible response to a vague description of a product. Nothing anywhere in the exchange refuses to proceed for lack of evidence.

A specialised builder at least forces some specification: it needs to know what the screens are, or what the schema looks like. A general assistant needs nothing, so the rigour is supplied by you or by nobody, and it is quite hard to notice which of those happened, because the output looks the same either way.

Fluency is not the same as being right, and this is the tool where the two are hardest to tell apart.

What changes in Gemini prompt

Gemini is the same tool either way. The difference is entirely in what it has been told.

Without the spec

Answers a vague description of a product with a fluent, plausible plan.

With it

Answers a specification, because it has been given one.

Without the spec

Agrees your idea is strong, which is the easiest response to produce.

With it

Works from a verdict that was reached against live competitor and review data.

Without the spec

Starts every session from whatever you can remember of the last one.

With it

Starts from a context block carrying all nine decisions.

Honest questions

The stuff Gemini builders actually ask before paying $5.

Frequently asked questions

Can't I just describe my idea to Gemini directly?
You can, and Gemini will build it. The problem is Gemini will build anything. It doesn't tell you the idea has no buyer, the pricing is wrong, the scope is bloated or the launch channel for this audience is paid not organic. ShipFit decides those nine things first so Gemini builds the right thing, not just the next thing.
Do I still need my Gemini subscription?
Yes. ShipFit isn't a builder. It's the step before. ShipFit decides what to build. Gemini builds it. The two are complementary, not competing. ShipFit's stage-9 export drops straight into Gemini prompt.
I can just ask Gemini to validate my idea. Why pay anything?
You can ask, and you will get an answer. What you will not get is live G2 reviews, current competitor pricing or Reddit complaints from this month, because that is retrieval and analysis work against sources, not a question a model answers from memory. The answer will be articulate. Articulate is the failure mode.
Which Gemini surface does this work with?
All of them. It is a text block, so it works in chat, in the CLI and in Antigravity, and it is the same content in each case because the decisions do not change with the interface.
Gemini agreed my idea was strong. Isn't that validation?
It is agreement, which is a different thing and much easier to get. A model asked to assess an idea you clearly like will find the case for it, because that is the shape of the request. Nine forced decisions with a verdict at each is harder to please.
What happens if the verdict goes against my idea?
You saved a Gemini build cycle, which is the feature rather than the bug. The Quick Take verdict arrives with a Why: which of the nine decisions broke down, whether that was the buyer, the pricing room or the differentiation. You either iterate on the idea or pick a stronger one. Either way, $5 buys a forced conversation with the data before you spend three months building.
